SPoP goals
cooperation
A considerable amount of interesting work in computing education is
being done in Scandinavia, and after many discussions we have the
impression that all of us who work in the field could benefit from
better opportunities of exchange and co-operation.
To this end, we propose the establishment of the Pedagogy Network. This
is intended to be a rather informal, low overhead group that aims at
advancing our field.
The long term aim is to establish a multi-location, multi-disciplinary
group with regular (if infrequent) meetings that helps facilitating
computing education projects. This group should include experts from
computer science, pedagogic disciplines, psychology, and others.
Creating such a group is difficult. Therefore we are planning an
approach in two stages. The first stage (which we are starting now)
aims at bringing together computer scientists with an interest and
experience in the pedagogy of programming to establish the core of the
network. The second stage later (next year) will aim at extending the
group to make it truly multi-disciplinary.
